Project overview

We tell the story of how our moana enables us to thrive.

Te Ohu Kaimoana, the Māori Fisheries Trust works with iwi and hapū partners to manage their interests in fisheries, to benefit and strengthen communities. This year, we were asked to create an annual report inspired by the “hā” (breath or vitality) of Tangaroa.

Creative

Inspired by kōwhaiwhai that shimmer and move with energy and vitality.

The dynamic energy of kōwhaiwhai art creates a sense of powerful movement across the pages of the report. Interacting with the textures of the moana and images of people enlivened by their connection to Tangaroa. Photography by the amazing Erica Sinclair adds warmth, vibrancy and a sense of community and purpose.

Summary

Nā to rourou, nā taku rourou ka ora ai te iwi.

By your food basket and by my food basket, our people will flourish. This whakataukī expresses the symbiotic relationship with the sources of our food. But also, to the collaboration and partnership between hapū and iwi and our creative team as we work alongside our clients.
